Minnesota Skatepark Grants - NOW is the time to get involved!

- FIND and CONTACT your MN State House and MN State Senator representatives -

To help our Minnesota cities and park programs meet the need for quality public skateparks to serve their youth and communities, City of Skate has helped initiate a $8.25M Minnesota Statewide Skate Park Grant Program that must be passed by our MN State Legislatures.

About the MN Skate Park Grants - State Senate Bill SF 1422 - Authored by Sen. Karin Housley (R) & Sen. Scott Dibble (D), along with companion - MN House Bill 2490 - Authored by Rep. Tama Theis (R) & Rep. Dan Wolgamott (D).

This bill has three parts that will provide funds for new quality skatepark construction and renovations throughout the State of Minnesota.

1) $2.5M of funds for grants of up to $250,000 per project. 50% of these projects will be outside the Twin Cities metro area.

2) $3.75M for grants of up to $750,000 that will provide for skateparks with a regional impact.

3) $2M toward a large regional skatepark that will provide a statewide draw. Examples of regional skateparks: Arvada, COHouston; and San Diego.

HOW TO HELP - Rally your mother, friends, skaters, and grandpa to contact your MN State House Representative and Senator, by email, phone, social media and/or letter. Express what skateboarding means to you and why it is important for your community. Ask your Representative and Senator to support and champion this skatepark bill that benefits youth, communities and our state.
